Cuisine African, Liberian
- 2 lb frozen shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tbsp ginger paste
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp basil leaves
- 1 tsp garlic & onion powder
- 1 tbsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- 2 habanero peppers, finely chopped (optional, for extra heat)
- 1 tsp chicken bouillon powder
- 2 tbsps butter
- 2 tbsps Caribbean jerk sauce
- 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 cup water
Rinse the shrimp thoroughly in clean water, then drain and set aside.
Place a saucepan over medium heat. Add all ingredients except the shrimp and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend and the sauce to develop.
Add the shrimp to the saucepan, stir well to coat, and continue cooking for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the liquid reduces and the shrimp are fully cooked and well sautéed in the butter pepper sauce.
Turn off the heat once the sauce has thickened and coated the shrimp evenly.
Serve hot with steamed rice, vegetable salad, or enjoy as a bold and flavorful appetizer.
