This Liberian-Style Butter Pepper Shrimp is bold, buttery, and bursting with heat—exactly the kind of dish that brings people together around the table. Juicy jumbo shrimp are sautéed in rich butter and olive oil, then infused with fresh ginger, onions, garlic, and a fiery blend of Caribbean and Creole seasonings for a deep, mouth-watering flavor. Finished with peppery heat and aromatic herbs, this dish delivers the perfect balance of spice and richness—just the way Liberian pepper dishes are meant to be enjoyed.

In Liberian cooking, pepper dishes are more than just spicy meals; they are a celebration of bold flavors, shared moments, and cultural pride. From pepper soup to pepper chicken and shrimp, these dishes are known for their intense heat, savory depth, and comforting richness. This butter pepper shrimp is inspired by those traditions but comes together quickly, making it perfect for both everyday cooking and special occasions.

What makes this recipe truly stand out is the layered flavor profile. Ginger paste and onions create a fragrant base, while garlic and basil add warmth and aroma. Cayenne pepper and optional habanero peppers bring the heat, allowing you to adjust the spice level to your liking. Caribbean jerk sauce adds a smoky, slightly sweet complexity that complements the butter beautifully, while chicken bouillon enhances the savory notes of the sauce. As the shrimp simmer, the broth reduces into a rich, glossy butter pepper sauce that clings to every bite.

Quick to prepare and packed with flavor, this shrimp recipe is incredibly versatile. Serve it as a bold appetizer at gatherings, spooned straight from the pan and enjoyed with friends. It also shines as a main course, paired with steamed white rice, fried plantains, or a simple vegetable salad. Crusty bread is another favorite pairing, perfect for soaking up every drop of that irresistible butter pepper sauce.

Whether you’re cooking for family, hosting a party, or craving a dish that brings authentic Liberian flavor to your kitchen, this Liberian-Style Butter Pepper Shrimp is guaranteed to satisfy. It’s spicy, comforting, and unapologetically flavorful—a true Okra Pantry classic that keeps you coming back for more.
